How Does eSIM Work?
An eSIM functions similarly to a traditional SIM card, but the main difference is that it is integrated into the device and can be programmed via software or apps without the need to replace the card. Here's how it works:
Activating the eSIM: When purchasing an eSIM from a service provider, a QR code is sent to the user. This code contains all the necessary information to activate the eSIM on the device.
Scanning the QR Code: The user scans the QR code using the smartphone's camera or through the device’s settings for the eSIM. Network settings are automatically downloaded, and the new line is activated.
Choosing a Plan: After activation, the user can choose a preferred data or voice plan. The account and balance can be managed through the service provider’s app or device settings.
Multiple Line Usage: Many devices allow the use of more than one line simultaneously, as they can support both a physical SIM card and an eSIM. This allows users to have two lines (one for voice and another for data or international calls) operating on the same device.
Benefits of eSIM
The eSIM represents a significant shift in mobile communication, offering users greater flexibility and convenience in activating lines and managing service plans. eSIM technology makes it easy to switch between carriers and provides practical solutions, especially for travelers.
